According to the Small Business Times, reporting on a Neilsen survey, “Milwaukee ranks as one of the least-prepared metropolitan markets in
the country for the Feb. 18, 2009, conversion of television from analog
to digital signals… Milwaukee ranks 51st among the 56 markets surveyed. According to the
report, 19.1 percent of the homes surveyed in the Milwaukee market
would be able to receive digital signals if the change was enacted
today.” As an example, New York City is 96.5 percent ready.
There are other interesting tidbits. For instance,
Nielsen found that adults over 55 are better prepared for the digital transition than younger households.
Well, duh.
Yet, the networks hates us over-55′s. I’m part of an elite group of people who belong to an NBC viewers panel, which consists of my getting sent online surveys that they say will only take about ten minutes. Here’s how it goes.
Please tell us your age:
I click the box that says 55 and over.
Survey says, “Thank you for your participation. The survey is concluded.”
That was a fast ten minutes. Think it has something to do with my age? But I’m Hi-def Digital ready, I tell ya!!
Oh, yeah– I’m old. I must have no money. Then how did I get all that hi-def gear?
Idiots.
